The Weirdest Place In America

Yesterday, we decided to go have some wings and watch some sports on television. A few weeks ago, we went to a mall to watch Mission Impossible 4 and we remembered a specific place that would be perfect for the night. Once we left the highway, I saw a Macy’s and pulled into the parking garage. We found a perfect spot and exited on our way to the chosen establishment. There was only one problem, we couldn’t find the restaurant. We honestly circled the mall several times with zero luck. That’s when reality set in, we were on Burbank Blvd and the previous mall was on Magnolia Blvd. Honest mistake, except for the fact that Magnolia and Burbank are a block away, near First Street. I am not making this up; there are two AMC Theaters and two malls, a stone’s throw away from each other. (In this case, I’m talking about a stone thrown by a seven year-old school girl!) *I just Googled the theaters in order to show how close they are and I uncovered an unbelievable truth. I was wrong; there are four AMC Theaters in the one block radius!* This place keeps getting weirder by the second!

I think if you stand directly in the center of all four theaters and make a wish, it will come true. I wished for you to read this post! BELIEVE IT OR NOT!

Tomorrow I will post my thoughts on Whitney Houston!

Thanks to Jeremy Lin, Sports Center continues to talk about The Great Tim Tebow!

Where Is The Fridge

Living in Los Angeles has been great, so far, but there have been some challenges. A major discovery happened during our apartment hunt. We learned that landlords are not required to provide refrigerators to their tenants. (Un-reaking-believable!)

Our initial reaction was one of unrequited sorrow and despair. I believe the cool kids write, FML, in these types of situations. With no place to store our eggs, we had to come up with a plan. We did what any other red-blooded American would do; we turned to Craigslist. There were some decent choices and we planned to purchase one of the “egg storage units.” Everything changed on Monday.

We found an appliance store a block away from our apartment and made the short walk. Upon entering, we noticed that the place only sold brand new refrigerators, and we were not in the market for such lavishness. (We signed a lease; we didn’t close on a house!)

Thankfully, the owner of the business told us about a great place in Burbank that sold used appliances. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the area, Burbank is the next town over; it is literally a stone’s throw away!

After a short drive, we walked into Savon Appliances (Located at 2925 W Burbank Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505) and found a good selection of used “ice boxes.” There were some old refrigerators from the fifties and sixties, which were cool, but we were on a mission to save on an appliance.

The selection process was rigorous; I had my favorite and @EFidalgo12 had his. There was a quick duel and the victor gained the honor of picking our “new” fridge. (No individuals were harmed during the selection of our refrigerator!)

The best news of all was the fact that the place delivered. We do not own an SUV, or a pick-up truck. I’m extremely happy that we were not forced to role the fridge, on a dolly, back to North Hollywood. There was one bit of bad news. The earliest delivery date is Friday so we are still without somewhere to keep the milk from spoiling. (Tomorrow, we will finally be able to make our own meals and not have to rely on the talented people who “chef-it-up” in the local eateries!)

Our fridge also comes with a bonus, at no extra charge. There is a one-year warranty which covers all repairs. Not only will the store deliver our beer cooler (Who are we kidding!), but they will also pick it up and fix any problems which may occur within the next year. (I’m not one hundred percent certain, but I believe their one-year protection plan lasts more than 90 days!)

***If you didn’t get the 90 days joke, you need to read the blog more often! Click this link to get in the loop! We Meet A Genius.***

Life has been weird, living without a place to keep the beers cool, but the hard times are almost over! We are now accepting items which require refrigeration! (Hablamos Español!)

I think it looks a little something like this.

QUE LINDA!

Scary Experience

I am way too exhausted to write anything other than a short post, tonight. Our return trip to Boston was not a one way flight like the one to LA. I didn’t mind since our layover was in Denver. It was the first time I stepped foot in the Rocky Mountain Capital, and we enjoyed some great food while watching an entire football game. (It was actually the most bearable four hour layover!)

We arrived at Burbank Airport, which looks like a small town mall, and returned the rental car. I snapped a photo of the mountains, which are visible throughout LA. I’m going to get used to seeing those mountains from our future balcony.

The airport is relatively small so we didn’t have much of a wait. After a filling breakfast at the bar, we headed to the gate. That’s when I was completely caught off guard. We had to walk onto the tarmac and enter the plane from a ramp. The plane was the smallest I have ever seen.

Thankfully, the flight to Denver was less than two hours. The ascent was rather terrifying, but eventually, we reached the cruising altitude. We never really cruised; small planes tend to give you the complete turbulence experience.

The descent was another story. It felt as if we were on a rollercoaster; one with steep drops every twenty seconds. The process lasted a half hour. I did my best not to heave, while we attempted to lose altitude circling the city. (Standing on the ground never felt so good!)

I honestly hope I never fly in one of those small planes again!
